Roy Gomes - Senior Pastor
Marcialee Gomes - Assistant Senior Pastor
Roy Gomes Sr. was born in Holualoa, Hawaii. Marcia Gomes was born in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. They both started attending Rhema Christian Church
in Kona in the mid 1970's and accepted the Lord there.
They both became involved in Rhema, being discipled and encouraged to do correspondence study with Dr. Kenneth Hagin's Ministry, through books and tapes. They learned about the Word of Faith, the Holy Spirit, Authority of the Believer, and much more.
They also studied with Youth With a Mission through mini DTS series, Spiritual Warfare with Dean Sherman, Prayer and Intercession with Joy Dawson,
Knowing God and World Evangelism with Loren Cunningham, Serving in Ministry with Peter and Donna Jordan and much more teaching from the leaders of YWAM.
They were influenced in their studies by many men of God like Dr. Derek Prince;
Dr. Bob Mumford, and many more. Through their training Roy and Marcia
developed as bible study teachers in Rhema Christian Church.
God called Roy & Marcia out of Rhema Christian Church in 1984, to help pioneer a new church in Kona called Hope Chapel with Pastor Sunny Shimaoka. With much ministry experience, Pastor Roy became a mini-church Pastor and Elder. Pastor Marcia became a Women's Bible Study teacher and Women's Ministry Leader. They also started marriage ministry at Hope Chapel using the Nova Shalom (New Peace) series currently known as Marriage Alive. In 1992, Pastor Marcia became involved with Women's Aglow Ministry and became an integral part of that ministry in Kona for 8 years, including serving as Vice President of Kona Aglow for 2 years.
In 1996 Pastor Roy and Pastor Marcia became ordained Ministers through Catch the Flame Ministries out of Santa Ana California. God called them out of Hope Chapel to pastor and pioneer a new work which first started as a House Church with the support of YWAM ministers. However, after three years the Lord called Pastors Roy and Marcia to a more public ministry and in 1999 they started Kona Christian Church. In 2002, Pastors Roy and Marcia became members of International Charismatic Bible Ministries with Oral and Richard Roberts.
Pastors Roy and Marcia are active in the calling of God on their lives to evangelize and disciple believers. They are also sending some to be trained further to be leaders for the next generation through Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pastors Roy and Marcia are excited about the new work God has called them to and look forward to completing the vision God has placed within them. Through Pastors Roy and Marcia's anointed pastoring and teaching many lives have been positively affected, marriages have been restored, and souls have been born into the kingdom.
Pastor Roy and Marcia have five children all born again, spirit filled and following the Lord. They also have four grandchildren learning the ways of God.
