Our Mission: At Kona Christian Church our mission statement is, to bring people to Jesus and to become part of His family, develop them into mature disciples of Jesus Christ, and equip them for their ministry in the church, community and lifes mission in the world, which will magnify the name of God.
Our Purpose: We believe a great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission will grow a great church!
Meet our Staff:
Brief History of Kona Christian Church:
Kona Christian Church is a Charismatic church that was started on March 18, 1999 by Pastors Roy and Marcialee Gomes. The fellowship first met in the home of Pastors Roy and Marcialee and later moved to the Kaahumanu Plaza in Kailua-Kona. The church has since grown and we have moved twice and now are located in our facility on Kaiwi Street. Kona Christian Church also has six Rhema Bible Training Center grads in its body. We are always in support of those who wish to attend Rhema.
What to Expect:
We know that your first time to a new church can be a little uncomfortable, especially for your kids. So here's a few clues as to what you can expect...
Will I get lost?
Directions can be found on by simply clicking this directions link. Once you arrive, you will be greeted warmly with a hand shake or hug and the greeter will direct you to find a seat and explain a little about the children's ministry.
How should I dress?
Come in jeans and a t-shirt, or wear a 3 piece suit, whatever is comfortable to you. We are more concerned that you are dressed for success on the inside. Keep in mind that our facility has air conditioning and can get a little cool.
What is the music like?
Our music is contemporary and upbeat similar to something you might here on your local Christian radio station. Some of our favorite songs are by United, Hillsong, Desperation Band, Paul Baloche, David Crowder, Kari Jobe, Jesus Culture and many more! No matter what the style or sound, our focus is always on passionately glorifying our Savior!
What are the messages like?
Pastor Roy Sr. and Marcialee's messages are filled with wisdom and emphasize moving in the power of God. Don't be surprised if people are healed and delivered in the service!
What about my kids?
Your kids from ages 3-12 will have a blast in our Children's Church! They participate in the main service for praise and worship and then head out. Games, crafts, snacks and of course a bible lesson are included.
What about my baby?
You are more than welcome to keep your baby with you in service or take advantage of our nursery area where you can allow your baby to play with toys or nurse your baby while you watch and listen to the service.
What about my toddler?
Is your toddler 1-3 years old? We have just the place for them! Introducing our T.A.G. (Toddlers and God) Room, where they can play at different stations that will challenge and encourage your little one to grow, all while under the careful supervision of our trusted staff and volunteers.
Who will be working with my children?
We carefully screen and check all volunteers that work with the children. We have a great team of loving and caring volunteers (Mostly Mothers) to take care of your children so you can have peace of mind while in service.
What about my teenager?
On Sundays we like our teens to stay and be involved with the main services, so they can be challenged to grow in there relationship with Christ. On Wednesday nights we have Overcomers Y.G. after Praise and Worship!
